Accor has announced plans to open a Fairmont property on the southern Mediterranean coast of Spain.
Fairmont La Hacienda will be situated within the La Hacienda golf complex between Sotogrande and San Roque, and is expected to partially open within the next 12 months, with completion by Easter 2024.
The 323-room hotel will feature five restaurants and bars including a beach venue, as well as several swimming pools, a 2,000 sqm spa and a 1,108 sqm ballroom.
There are currently no Fairmont properties operating in Spain – the web page for the Fairmont Barcelona Rey Juan Carlos I states that the hotel “is closed until further notice”, adding that:
“It is with a heavy heart that the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I Barcelona and Palau de Congressos de Catalunya have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all operations, based on the difficult current circumstances generated by the owning company of the Hotel / Palau (Barcelona Project’s S.A).”
Across Europe the brand has a portfolio of six hotels, including four in the UK and Ireland – Scotland’s Fairmont St Andrews, London’s The Savoy, Ireland’s Carton House, and the recently opened Fairmont Windsor Park.
