Dubai-based carrier Emirates said that it has carried over 10 million passengers on nearly 35,000 flights to 130 destinations this summer.

It ramped up operations on several routes, reinstating daily services to London Stansted, and also increased flights to 33 cities on popular routes across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, as well as holiday destinations including Seychelles, Maldives, Mexico and Miami.

In June, Emirates added Tel Aviv to its global network and in July it added a third daily flight to London Gatwick too in order to serve travellers affected by capacity cuts at Heathrow.

The airline also deployed its superjumbo A380, to serve high customer demand at over 30 cities around its network.

It re-opened and was operating 32 signature Emirates lounges, including 25 dedicated lounges at major airports across its network. It also reinstated its complimentary Chauffeur Drive airport transfers for first and business class customers in nearly all the cities it serves.

During the summer months over 3.8 million travellers across its network checked-in online via its website and app. Over 500,000 travellers used the 22 self-service check-in kiosks and 38 baggage drop facilities in Dubai Terminal 3. Over 11,000 travellers utilised Emirates’ home check-in services, which are complimentary for first class passengers departing Dubai.

Emirates said that it is currently operating at 74 per cent of its pre-pandemic network/capacity and plans to increase that to 80 per cent by year end. The airline is also commencing a US$2 billion retrofit programme across 120 aircraft.

Dubai International’s (DXB), Emirates’ home base airport, meanwhile reported that its half yearly traffic reached 27.9 million passengers, only 1.2 million shy of the airport’s total annual traffic last year. It welcomed a total of 27,884,888 passengers in the first half of the year, up 161.9 per cent compared to H1 2021. The traffic volume represents 67.5 per cent of DXB’s pre-pandemic passenger traffic during the same period in 2019.
