Rosewood Hotels and Resorts has announced plans to add its second property in Austria, joining the recently opened Rosewood Vienna.

The luxury group will manage the historic Hotel Schloss Fuschl when it reopens in late 2023 following a full renovation programme.

The hotel is currently marketed under Marriott’s Luxury Collection, but will close for the works in September this year, before reopening as the Rosewood Schloss Fuschl.

The 15th century property is situated on the banks of Lake Fuschl surrounded by mountains and forests, with Rosewood describing it as “reminiscent of a fairytale castle”. It was first used as a hotel in 1954.

When it reopens the property will offer 98 rooms including 46 suites and six chalets, as well as “world-class restaurants and lounges”, and Rosewood’s signature Asaya spa concept with eight treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a fitness centre.

Recent openings for the Rosewood brand include Rosewood Vienna on Petersplatz in the Austrian capital’s Old Town, and Rosewood Sao Paulo, which occupies the city’s former Matarazzo Maternity hospital, alongside a new-build “vertical garden tower”.

Forthcoming projects include Hotel Bauer in Venice, and the group’s second London property – housed within the former US Embassy on Grosvenor Square.
