Ryan Air carried 16.8 million passengers in July, with the low-cost carrier operating approximately 92,300 flights.

The figure is higher than the 15.9 million recorded in June this year, and up 81 per cent on the number of passengers recorded last July.

The carrier’s load factor also reached 96 per cent, compared to 80 per cent in July 2021.

At the start of the year Ryanair carried 7 million passengers, with winter traffic affected by travel restrictions owing to the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

Meanwhile rival low-cost carrier Wizz Air recorded a record high for traffic in July, carrying 4.8 million passengers last month – a year-on-year rise of 61 per cent.
