Staycity plans to bring its premium Wilde brand to Portugal.

The group will open properties in Porto and Lisbon, complete with 80 and 95 apartments respectively, towards the end of 2024.

The properties will offer studio and one-bed apartments with kitchen facilities, dining and sitting areas, coffee shop and gym alongside a 24-hour reception and guest laundry room.

It described Porto an “important commercial and industrial centre” while Lisbon would be a “top choice for digital nomads”.

Staycity CEO Tom Walsh commented:

“We’re delighted to be opening in these popular Portuguese destinations and to be taking our Wilde brand into another of our European target regions alongside those already operating in Germany and the UK.”

“Careful forecasting and refinancing meant we emerged from the pandemic ready to crack on with our expansion,

“This year our like-for-like sales are back up to 2019 levels, so recovery has happened more quickly than we anticipated. Leisure stays have come back and we are seeing signs of corporate business returning, although challenges do still remain such as supply issues, labour shortages and the impact of the war in the Ukraine.”

Earlier this year the group opened its third London property under its premium Wilde brand, located in Paddington, joining its existing Aldgate and Covent Garden sites. Staycity also operates Wilde aparthotels in Berlin, Edinburgh and Manchester.

The group as a whole has opened properties in Dublin, Frankfurt, Manchester and Paris this year, with another site in Dublin forthcoming. This will bring the company to a total of 6,000 apartments across 32 locations.

Most recently, the company opened its sixth Staycity aparthotel in France, in Paris’ La Défense business district. The new-build property is the Staycity’s third in Paris with another scheduled to open next year at Roissy Airport.
