Eurostar to add fourth daily weekday service to the Netherlands

Eurostar has announced plans to add a fourth daily weekday service between London and the Netherlands.

From September 5 Eurostar will offer direct services to Rotterdam and Amsterdam departing London at 0616, 0816, 1104 and 1804, and departing Amsterdam at 0747, 1347, 1647 and 1847.

The full timetable, including stops at Lille and Brussels, can be seen below.

The high-speed rail operator launched its London-Amsterdam route in April 2018, initially with a change in Brussels on the return leg to allow for immigration and security checks, before moving to a direct service in both directions from October 2020.

Eurostar said that the fourth daily Monday-Friday service would allow it to carry up to 3,600 people per day between London and the Netherlands.

The move follows the Dutch government’s recent decision to cut the maximum number of flights allowed per year at Amsterdam Schiphol airport, in a bid to reduce noise and air pollution.

Commenting on the news Els Buzzi, head of Amsterdam Route at Eurostar, said:

“The ever-growing demand for high-speed trains between the Netherlands and the UK shows that both business and leisure travellers appreciate the convenience and comfort of travelling by Eurostar.

“The fourth service will give our customers even more choice and flexibility when planning their journey, safe in the knowledge that Eurostar is the greener way to go from city centre to city centre.”
