Construction has completed on two new hotels within the Airport City Manchester development, ahead of their opening in the coming months.
The Ibis Budget and Holiday Inn properties will now be fitted out before their scheduled opening dates of August and September respectively.
The Ibis Budget Manchester Airport will offer 262 rooms over seven floors, with a mixture of double, twin, triple and accessible layouts, while the Holiday Inn Manchester Airport will feature 280 rooms, as well as the brand’s signature Open Lobby concept, and Turkish casual dining restaurant Firin with theatre kitchen.
The hotels are located next to the airport’s bus, tram and rail station, and form part of a cluster of nine new properties which will eventually offer 2,400 rooms.
These include the debut of Accor’s midscale lifestyle Tribe brand in England, with the nine-floor, 412-room set to be located around 400 metres from Manchester airport’s Terminal 2, and expected to open in early 2024.
Commenting on the news Gareth Jackson, group property managing director at Manchester Airports Group (MAG), said:
“Reaching practical completion on both the Holiday Inn and ibis budget hotels is another great landmark moment at Airport City Manchester.
“They are the first in a series of global hotel brands which will provide a range of additional facilities and amenities to the airport campus, as well as providing a range of employment opportunities for local people.
“Alongside works commencing on Tribe, these new hotels highlight the continued progress being made at Airport City Manchester.”
