Radisson Hotel Group has opened its first property under its Radisson Blu brand in Barcelona.
Radisson Blu 1882 Hotel, Barcelona Sagrada Familia is located 450 metres from Antonio Gaudi’s renowned monument in the Gracia district.
The hotel has 182 rooms in standard, super, premium, premium deluxe and family categories. Meanwhile its four restaurants and bars will focus on “sustainable, balanced and healthy gastronomy” and include the rooftop El Cel Bar terrace and pool, featuring views of the city’s skyline and Gaudi’s architecture.
Contemporary interiors have been designed by Lazaro Rosa-Violan and include designer pieces, natural leather upholstery, high-pile rugs and leafy greenery to bring the outdoors indoors.
The building also houses 120 sqm of meeting and event space with the capacity to host up to 120 people, a 24-hour fitness centre and a bicycle deposit scheme allowing guests to explore the city.
The hotel has earned Gold level LEED certification with sustainable features including an 80 sqm vertical ecosystem of over 3,000 plants in the El Bosc Terrace Bar. Radisson says that the plants filter 10kg of dust per year and generate oxygen for 80 people.
Additionally the hotel has Biosphere certification and a dedicated corporate social responsibility neighbourhood project commitment.
Tom Flanagan Karttunen, area senior vice president Northern and Western Europe, Radisson Hotel Group, commented:
“It’s a privilege to introduce the Radisson Blu brand to Barcelona, one of the world’s most vibrant cities. The hotel’s unbelievable location with panoramic views from its rooftop terrace make this hotel a unique place to stay and explore the city. It’s a modern hotel with lots of style and a cozy and cosmopolitan feel.”
Last year Radisson Hotel Group unveiled its renovated Radisson Blu property in the Spanish capital.
