Marriott has opened the latest property under its luxury JW Marriott brand in China.

JW Marriott Hotel Changsha is located in the capital of China’s Hunan Province, a five-minute walk from the nearest metro station and a 30-minute drive to Changsha Huanghua International airport and Changsha South Railway Station.

The hotel has been designed by HBA Singapore with decor incorporating “traditional aesthetics of the region with high-end modern touches”, with a 35th-floor Sky Lobby featuring soothing natural palettes and simple architectural lines.

The property comprises 287 rooms, including 14 suites with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Xiang River and the Changsha skyline.

All rooms include amenities such as LCD HD TVs and sound insulation systems as well as abstract paintings in shades of copper and blue which evoke the bold brush strokes of Chinese calligraphy from the 1,000-year-old Yuelu Academy.

There are three restaurants and two lounges, including Cantonese restaurant Hao Yu, Japanese teppanyaki venue Ginza Onodera, and all-day dining restaurant Yun Kitchen which includes live cooking stations.

The Sky Lobby level includes the JW Lounge, which offers afternoon tea, and the Executive Lounge, which offers cocktails and a light, healthy menu.

Additionally, there is a garden which grows fresh herbs and vegetables for the kitchens across the hotel, a kids’ area, and a wellness space on the 33rd floor with a 24-hour fitness centre, indoor heated pool with floor-to-ceiling windows and a spa.

Meetings and events spaces include a 650 sqm ballroom that accommodates over 500 guests, and five multi-functional meeting rooms.

Bruce Rohr, vice president and global brand leader at JW Marriott, said:

“We are thrilled to mark the opening of JW Marriott Hotel Changsha as part of our strategic brand expansion across key cities in central China.

“For discerning guests, JW Marriott creates immersive experiences through thoughtful design, impeccable service and a commitment to restorative travel and holistic wellbeing.”

There are currently over 100 JW Marriott properties in more than 35 countries and territories around the world.

Earlier this year Marriott International announced plans to open nearly 100 properties in the Asia-Pacific region in 2022, with Greater China accounting for more than half of its anticipated luxury openings.
