Hyatt plans to open a property under its Thompson Hotels brand in the Austrian capital.

Thompson Vienna is expected to open in late 2024 on Mariahilfer Strasse as part of a development which will also include a KaDeWe high-end department store, both of which will be owned by Signa Real Estate.

The 148-room property will be designed by architects Oma and interior designers Tara Bernerd and Partners, featuring a “modern, edgy design” inspired by the city’s architecture.

Felicity Black-Roberts, vice president development Europe, Hyatt, commented:

“We are excited to be expanding our relationship with SIGNA and CENTRAL Group by introducing plans for Thompson Vienna, the third Hyatt property in the city.

“Offering a refined residential feel, Thompson Vienna will attract visitors and locals alike with a dynamic social scene, all within the unprecedented development that will integrate high-end shopping, dining, entertainment, fashion and accommodations within one destination.”

This comes after the announcement of plans to debut the Thompson Hotels brand in Spain with Thompson Madrid.

Thompson Vienna will mark the group’s third Hyatt-branded hotel in the city, joining Park Hyatt Vienna and Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere.

Thompson Hotels joined Hyatt in 2019, following the group’s purchase of lifestyle hotel management company Two Roads Hospitality. The lifestyle brand also joined the World of Hyatt loyalty programme in March 2019.
