The Jurys Inn brand is set to be retired after nearly 30 years, under plans to reflag existing properties under sister brand Leonardo Hotels.

Jurys Inn opened its first hotel in Galway in 1993, and currently operates around 35 properties across the UK and Ireland. The name can be traced back to the 1880s however, when William Jury opened his first boarding house in Dublin.

The brand is owned by a subsidiary of Israel’s Fattal Hotels Group – which also owns Leonardo Hotels – under an agreement with Swedish investment company Pandox.

The group has gradually been expanding its presence in the UK, with Leonardo Hotel Bristol Glassfields opening in May 2021, and Leonardo Hotel Manchester Piccadilly set to be unveiled later this month.

Publications including The Caterer report that the Jurys Inn name will be retired this autumn, with existing hotels being relaunched under the Leonardo brand.

Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland told The Caterer “the time was right” for the change and it was better for all the hotels to be “under one banner” as the group expands.

“It gives us so many advantages that we wouldn’t have with a split portfolio of hotels,” Carruthers added.
