Hyatt has opened its first property in the Czech Republic, with the unveiling of the Andaz Prague.

The 176-room hotel is located on Senovazne Square within the city’s former ‘Sugar Palace’ – a building dating back to 1916 which was originally built to house the headquarters of the Sugar Industry Insurance Association.

Features include corner Residence Suites with views of Prague’s Dancing Fountain, a fitness centre, Zem restaurant which offer “modern versions of Czech comfort food”, Mez bar, and three events space with ornate ceilings and oak parquet flooring.

Andaz Prague to open in 2022

The first Andaz hotel opened in 2007 in London, housed within the former Great Eastern Hotel, and there are currently 26 Andaz properties globally, but European expansion has been relatively slow.

Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht followed in 2012, followed by Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere and Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor in 2019.

Andaz Lisbon is also set to open in 2024, located in the city’s Baixa district on the pedestrianised Rua Augusta.
