Virgin Atlantic has announced a raft of changes to its inflight dining experience, including the return of the option to pre-select meals for premium customers.

From mid-April Upper Class passengers will once again be able to pre-select inflight meals between 72 and 24 hours before departure, with the option also being made available to premium economy customers “from the summer”.

In addition the carrier has launched a new menu across its network, with highlighted dishes including hot smoked salmon, truffle butter breaded chicken, garlic ginger prawn curry, fig and goat’s cheese tart, a passionfruit and chocolate dome, and warm apple and blackberry crumble.

Upper class customers will also be offered dishes including garlic and stir-fried oriental chicken, chicken achari curry, and pork and parmesan meatballs on selected routes.

Finally Virgin’s ‘Mile High Tea’ has received “an upgrade”, with Upper Class passengers being offered burgers, superfood salads and crab cakes alongside the cream tea.

The changes follow the recent unveiling of new Upper Class “experiences” on the carrier’s leisure-focused A350 aircraft which have been configured with a new Booth social space. Bookable experiences including private dining, wine and cognac tasting.
