IHG Hotels and Resorts has signed two hotels in Mexico under its Voco brand.

The Voco hotel Guadalajara Neruda is set to open in late 2022 under the ownership of Vertex Ophthalmic Group, and will occupy five floors of the 11-story Neruda 2828 mixed-use project within the city’s financial district.

The hotel will feature 104 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, rooftop terrace, and business and fitness centres.

This will be followed by the opening of a property in Saltillo in 2023, which will be a conversion of a property originally built as an independent hotel in 2006.

Owned by American Hotels Group, the 125-suite hotel will be located in the city’s automotive and manufacturing district and adjacent to the American Sports Center recreation complex. Facilities will include a restaurant and bar, over 700 sq ft of meeting space, a fitness centre and an indoor pool.

German Ongay, regional vice president development – Mexico, IHG Hotels and Resorts, said:

“Voco hotels maintain the local character and history of an independent hotel, paired with the quality and reassurance of a respected global brand. Guadalajara and Saltillo are the ideal locations to introduce our newest and fastest-growing premium brand to Mexico, and we are thrilled to partner with Vertex Ophthalmic Group and American Hotels Group to make these two properties a reality.”

The Voco brand launched in 2018, and has 31 hotels around the world with a further 43 in the pipeline, including a joint Voco and Holiday Inn project scheduled to open in downtown Chicago later this year.
