Today comes news that Emirates will be returning to London Stansted from August 1.

The Dubai-based airline will initially operate five flights every week with B777-300ER aircraft, increasing to a daily service from September 1.

Schedules are:

EK 065 London Stansted to Dubai 2110-0710 (following day)

EK 068 Dubai-London Stansted 0850-1330

Richard Jewsbury, divisional VP for Emirates in the UK, commented:

“The UK is Emirates’ most important international market and bookings have continued to surge with the further easing of travel restrictions. Stansted is a key hub for Emirates in the South and South East of the UK.”

Emirates has been most active in restarting scheduled services and a good number now operate with the A380 superjumbo.

One might wonder when Stansted will welcome A380 services. In fact, had it not been for the pandemic, Emirates would doubtless have deployed its A380 on the Essex airport by now.

Stansted was certified for use by the superjumbo many years ago.

In fact Gulf media was questioning Emirates about this as far back as 2010.

Three other destinations returning to Emirates’ network at time of writing are Bali, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

  • Bali gains a five-times-weekly service effective May 1 with B777-300ER equipment. There will be a daily B777-300ER service from September 1.
  • Buenos will be served via Rio de Janeiro from November 2. Emirates plans daily flights from February 1, 2023.
