Norwegian has confirmed that face masks will no longer be mandatory on its flights from Monday April 4.
The move – which applies to all flights across the carrier’s network – has been made as a result of “revised guidance across Europe”.
Face masks have been mandatory on Norwegian flights since June 17, 2020, although the requirement ceased across Scandinavia on February 12 this year.
The airline said that “As countries reduce or completely remove travel restrictions, thanks to extensive vaccination programmes, passengers will now be able to choose if they wish to wear a face mask or not”.
Note that Norwegian stresses that it is “the responsibility of the passenger to comply with local regulations and restrictions”, and advises “all passengers to check the local requirements and guidance at their destination before travelling, including stops and connecting flights in Europe”.
Norwegian operates a raft of short-haul routes from London Gatwick airport, as well as services to and from Edinburgh and Manchester.
The carrier recently announced plans to launch a new twice-weekly route between Manchester and Trondheim, starting on August 15, 2022.
