LATAM has launched a new set of ‘travel eco kits’ for passengers travelling in its Premium Business cabins.
The amenity kits feature design by emerging Latin American artists and are reusable “with a very long lifespan”.
The bags are not wrapped in plastic as part of the airline’s commitment to eliminate single-use plastic, and the amenities are also environmentally friendly.
The kits contain a bamboo toothbrush with a sugar cane cap, earplugs wrapped in Kraft paper, and socks and eye covers made from recycled plastic. Cosmetic products, such as hand cream, lip balm and a towel, have been sourced from Feito Brasil – a B Corp brand with vegan products made from natural ingredients and raw materials.
The first two amenity kits feature designs by Chilean illustrator Tomas Olivos and Brazilian artist Hamilton Aguiar, and will be available this month on the Santiago de Chile-Madrid and Sao Paulo/Guarulhos-Miami routes.
The amenity kits are to be rolled out on all the airline’s routes throughout 2022, with future designs by artists from Ecuador, Peru, Colombia and Argentina.
LATAM said in a statement:
“With this initiative, LATAM intends to take another step forward in its sustainability strategy, focused on generating environmental and social value in the community, and promoting social, environmental and economic development in the countries where it operates.”
Last month Air France launched new eco-friendly business class and premium economy amenity kits made from 93 per cent recycled material.
