Ryanair has announced what it says will be its biggest ever summer schedule at Edinburgh airport, with a total of 65 routes and eight new destinations.

The low-cost carrier will base ten aircraft at the airport this summer, half of which will be its newly delivered B737 Max 200s.

The new routes will operate to Bari, Cork, Madrid, Marrakesh, Nimes, Palermo, Paris Beauvais and Santiago, and will contribute towards a total of 250 weekly Ryanair flights from Edinburgh for summer 2022.

The airport’s CEO Gordon Dewar said that the expansion was “extremely encouraging”, adding:

“Aviation will play an important role in the recovery of the Scottish and UK economies and to be in a position where Ryanair are offering more than they did pre-pandemic is a very good place for us to be in, especially when five of the based aircraft will be the quietest and most environmentally friendly in the industry.

“We know there’s a pent-up demand for travel and we want to offer choice to people, which is why we are looking to both retain and grow Edinburgh’s connectivity. We must work with partners including airlines and governments to ensure Scotland is flexible in its approach and is seizing new opportunities that arise.”

Last month Ryanair unveiled plans to offer its largest ever Dublin schedules this summer, with over 900 weekly flights to 120 destinations.

Meanwhile Ryanair has also unveiled its summer schedule at Leeds Bradford airport, with a total of 23 routes and 95 weekly flights, including new services to Barcelona Reus, Paris Beauvais and Zadar.
