Radisson Hotel Group has announced plans for its first property in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

The existing Hotel Barcelona 1882 is to be reflagged as the Radisson Blu Hotel Barcelona Sagrada Familia this spring.

The 182-room property is situated on Carrer de Corsega in Barcelona’s Eixample district, around a five-minute walk from the city’s iconic Sagrada Familia.

Facilities include a rooftop terrace and pool with views of the basilica, as well as a lobby bar and restaurant, fitness centre, 120 sqm of meeting space and 64 underground parking bays.

Radisson Hotel Group currently operates six properties across its various brands in Spain, including the recently refurbished and reflagged Radisson Blu Hotel Madrid Prado.

The group debuted its Radisson Collection brand in Spain in September last year, with the addition of the Radisson Collection Hotel, Magdalena Plaza Sevilla.

There are also two Radisson Blu resort properties on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, and later this year the group will debut its lifestyle Radisson Red brand in Madrid.

Commenting on the news Elie Younes, global chief development officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said:

“Radisson Blu celebrates ten consecutive years as the largest upper upscale brand in Europe thanks to the trust of our partners and the loyalty of our guests.

“This fantastic hotel further cements the brand’s leading position in this segment. The property marks our 10th hotel with Union Investment across Europe and we look forward to our continued successful relationship.

“Southern Europe is a key focus market where we anticipate significant scale in the coming few years.”
