Marriott is to add a Hertfordshire property under its growing Delta brand later this year.

The existing Cheshunt Marriott Hotel is set to undergo refurbishment of its rooms, meeting spaces and public areas over the next few months, before joining the Delta by Marriott portfolio in late spring.

Focus Hotels has been awarded the contract to convert and operate the property, which is located off the A10 to the north of Cheshunt.

The hotel features 140 rooms, a fitness centre, and a restaurant (currently operating as The Cast Iron Bar and Grill).

Marriott acquired the Delta Hotels brand in 2015, and added its first UK properties in 2019. The Marriott website currently lists five Delta properties in the UK, in Brockworth, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Telford, and the most recent addition in Warwick.

Commenting on the new Peter Cashman, chief executive officer of Focus Hotels, said:

“We view winning this contract as a strong vote of confidence in Focus Hotel Management and our commitment towards creating owner value and a sustainable business platform.

“This is a significant step in our post-pandemic plans for future growth and expansion.

“More than 90 per cent of businesses managed by Focus made a good operating profit in 2020 followed by continued growth in RGI results throughout 2021.

“Average group-wide RGI for the second half of 2021 exceeded 2019 pre-pandemic results at 115 which has given us the firm foundations from which to move forward and grow further.

“Every new brand we are able to work with brings the opportunity to provide us with greater diversity and additional insights which can all contribute towards our ambitions to expand even further.”
