Hilton is set to debut its Curio Collection brand in downtown Toronto, marking the first property under the brand in Canada.

Located at 60 Mill Street in the city’s Distillery District, the hotel will occupy a 19th century, 31-storey building that once housed a large whiskey distillery.

Hilton says that “many unique elements featuring the existing structure” will be retained, while Easton’s Group of Hotels and The Gupta Group say that the redevelopment of the site will include a restoration of the heritage building and a preservation of the south façade “to ensure that it fits seamlessly with the rest of the Distillery District”.

The hotel will include 392 rooms, an underground speakeasy, meeting space and ballroom, a spa and fitness centre, a 31st floor restaurant, and a rooftop bar and lounge with an outdoor patio and pool.

The hotel is in the pre-construction phase and a spokesperson at Hilton told Business Traveller that “the hotel is still a few years from opening”.

Hilton’s Curio brand launched in 2014, and last year passed the milestone of 100 properties worldwide.

Notable forthcoming Curio hotels include Lost Property St Paul’s London, and Sea Breeze Santorini Beach Resort – both of which are scheduled to open this spring.
