Best Western Hotels and Resorts has opened its first hotel in Kyoto, which also marks its inaugural BW Signature Collection property in Japan.

The Hotel Kyoto Palace, BW Signature Collection by Best Western is located in the city’s central Nakagyo Ward, which is home to UNESCO World Heritage-list temples, shrines and museums.

The low-rise architecture and wooden façade have been designed to “blend into the historical cityscape”, while interiors have been inspired by the local area to resemble a traditional Japanese home.

The hotel features 57 guest rooms and suites with amenities including an IDD telephone, a minibar, complimentary wifi, and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests are also provided with amenities by Kyoto-born cosmetic brand Kyonoyuki, which are packaged in a fabric drawstring purse with a Classical Japanese floral pattern.

Facilities include a restaurant specialising in Japanese and international cuisine, a bar, a gym, and a spa with separate areas for men and women.

The group now operates 23 properties across Japan, ranging from urban hotels to beach resorts, and airport hotels.
