Radisson Hotel Group has unveiled its first German property under the growing Radisson Collection brand.

The former Radisson Blu Berlin – situated in the city’s Mitte district opposite Berlin Cathedral – has undergone a 12-month renovation and has been reflagged as the Radisson Collection Hotel, Berlin.

All 427 guest rooms and suites across the building’s six floors have been refurbished, with a design which “combines wood tones with subtle grey and plum tones, accented by impactful artwork and stylish decorative accessories”.

Selected rooms have private balconies overlooking the River Spree, while the 101 sqm Nikolai Suite on the sixth floor features a living room, dining room with kitchenette, and a bathroom with whirlpool tub.

The hotel’s famous freestanding cylindrical aquarium – known as the AquaDom and believed to the largest in the world with 1,600 tropical fish – has been “modernised”, and there is a reimagined front desk and newly opened Atrium Bar.

Meanwhile Balaustine Restaurant will open in March and will offer “dishes packed with the flavours and the flair of the Levant, accompanied by Middle Eastern-inspired cocktails”.

Other facilities include over 2,750 sqm of meeting and events space over three floors – including the DomLounge venue under the glass roof of the building – as well as Heaven Spa with indoor swimming pool, Finnish sauna and a new fitness centre.

The Radisson Collection was launched in 2018 as a replacement for the Quorvus Collection, as part of wider group restructuring which saw Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group renamed as the Radisson Hotel Group.

Recent additions include the Radisson Collection Hotel, Palazzo Nani Venice, housed within a 16th century building formerly home to the Nani family, and Radisson Collection Hotel, Palazzo Touring Club Milan, situated around ten minutes’ walk from the city’s Duomo di Milano.

Commenting on the rebranding general manager of the Radisson Collection Hotel, Berlin, Oliver Staas, said:

“After an extensive creative design process and all the hard work that was put into creating our German flagship hotel, we are excited to launch Radisson Collection Hotel, Berlin.

“The hotel’s unparalleled location on the river right in the centre of Berlin-Mitte, the new interior design with its close attention to detail, and our signature Radisson Collection service level will make this hotel a fixture in the five-star hotel market in Berlin.”
