Iberia has outlined plans to increase flights between the Spanish and Argentinian capitals.

The carrier currently offers a daily service between Madrid and Buenos Aires, but will increase this to ten flights per week from mid-January, and 12 weekly services from March 2022.

Flights will be operated by A330-200 aircraft configured with 19 business class and 269 economy seats, with return fares starting from €625.

Iberis recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of flights between Europe and Latin America, which began on September 22, 1946.

The service was operated by a Douglas DC-4 aircraft, and took 36 hours, flying from Madrid to Buenos Aires via Villa Cisneros (also known as Dakhla in Western Sahara), Natal in Brazil, and Montevideo in Uruguay.

Sales director Victor Moneo said that while Iberia was “still far” from its pre-pandemic schedules, the increase in frequencies “will help boost the market”.

The carrier said that the additional services would also improve connection possibilities between Argentina and over 90 Iberia destinations within Europe.
