Marriott has added the fifth Spanish property under its Luxury Collection portfolio and the first in the capital Madrid, with the unveiling of the renovated Santa Mauro.

The 49-room hotel is housed within three buildings dating back to the 18th century in the city’s Chamberi district, which were formerly home to the Duke of Santa Mauro.

The property has previously been marketed under Marriott’s AC and Autograph Collection brands, but has undergone renovations to its guestrooms, public areas, restaurants and gardens, and been reflagged as Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid.

The refurbishment works have been led by Spanish interior designer Lorenzo Castillo, with rooms refreshed using “furnishings of plush leather, midnight blue velvet and silk”.
