Marriott has introduced its Tribute Portfolio brand to Scandinavia with the opening of a property in Copenhagen.

The Socialist, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is located in an old transformer station and features 31 rooms and suites, a bar, restaurant, lounge and wine cellar.

The hotel is described as “a convergent point where the city’s artists and bon vivants, ideas and perspectives all meet”.

The rooms and suites include amenities such as Nespresso coffee machines and Dyson hairdryers.

Bobo Food Studio, the hotel’s dining venue, is overseen by chef Boris Buono and serves New Nordic cuisine with a focus on organic, local produce, and the opportunity to enjoy an experimental tasting menu. The restaurant’s wine cellar also offers small tasting plates with matching wines.

The Tribute Portfolio brand was unveiled in April 2015 by Starwood Hotels and Resorts (before its merger with Marriott International), and is described as a “growing global family of characterful, independent hotels drawn together by its passion for captivating design drive to create vibrant social scenes for guests and locals alike”.

Marriott currently operates more than 32 hotels in its Tribute Portfolio brand and plans to add over 42 new hotels in the next five years in US cities and international destinations.
