United Airlines has announced plans to add five new flights from Heathrow in the coming months, including confirmation of the launch date for its Boston-Heathrow service.

The carrier first unveiled plans to launch flights between London Heathrow and Boston Logan International in June this year.

At the time a launch date was not announced, but this has now been confirmed for March 2022, with a daily service operated by United’s B767-300ER.

By spring 2022 the carrier will offer 22 daily flights from Heathrow, 12 of which will be operated by United’s reconfigured B767-300ERs, which offer 46 Polaris business class seats, 22 Premium Plus seat, 47 Economy Plus seats and 52 economy seats.

The additional services include:

  • The resumption of daily flights to Denver, followed by a second daily flight operated by a B787-9 Dreamliner
  • The addition of sixth and seventh daily B767-300ER flights to Newark, allowing for an hourly service in the evening
  • A third daily flight to San Francisco, operated by a B787-9
  • The resumption of daily flights to Los Angeles

United also confirmed that it would reopen its United Polaris lounges at Newark, Chicago and Houston by the end of this year.

Commenting on the news Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of international network and alliances at United, said:

“For nearly 30 years, United has provided a critical link between the US and London, maintaining service throughout the pandemic and strategically growing our schedule to keep our customers in these key global business centres connected.

“London is an integral part of United’s network and we remain confident demand will continue to grow, particularly as international business travel returns in 2022.”

Earlier this month United announced what it says will be “the largest transatlantic expansion in its history” next year, with ten new routes and five brand new destinations including Amman, Bergen, Azores, Palma and Tenerife.
