Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas has added a property in Rome to its European portfolio.

Located on the Piazza della Repubblica, the hotel belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World and is transitioning to the Anantara brand.

The building is suspended over the ancient Diocletian Thermal Baths, whose excavated foundations, pools and mosaics can be seen through the lower ground floor, and its architecture includes original elements commissioned by Pope Clement XI for the Vatican in 1705.

The Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel will begin a refurbishment in early 2022, with new features including a new lobby, a bar with original Art Nouveau décor, a “healthy corner”, and a rooftop space with panoramic views of the Eternal City. A new spa will launch on the hotel’s top floor in 2022, adding to the existing four treatment rooms, and will include a steam bath, a Hammam, hydrotherapy, a sauna and a relaxation area.

The hotel will also offer leisure facilities such as a fitness centre with personal training sessions, yoga classes and the opportunity to exercise in the gardens of Villa Borghese.

Interior design includes contemporary and neoclassical features, and accommodation options vary in configurations and styles. The five dining venues from chef Niko Sinisgalli include the Lobby Bar, Roman cuisine at Ristorante Tazio, bubbles at Champagnerie overlooking the Fountain of the Naiads, sky-high dining at the Posh Rooftop Restaurant and Lounge Bar, and breakfast overlooking the Piazza at La Frusta.

The property also has eight flexible meeting and event spaces which can accommodate meetings from 20 to 180 people, and up to 550 for a cocktail reception.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO Minor Hotels, parent company of Anantara, commented:

“Rome is the spiritual and cultural heart of Italy and one of the most loved cities in the world. We are delighted to be continuing the expansion of our luxury Anantara brand with the first property in Italy. Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome invites the discerning luxury traveller to embrace the historic charm of a vibrant city and is a fantastic addition to the Anantara portfolio in Europe.”

Anantara will continue its expansion in Europe in 2022 with the addition of hotels in Amsterdam, Budapest, Dublin and Nice, adding to its existing properties in Portugal and Marbella.
