The Como Group has announced plans for its first property in France, located in Puligny-Montrachet in the country’s Burgundy region.

The group has purchased Hotel Le Montrachet – which is housed within an 18th century property situated around a village square – and plans to transform the hotel in phases.

The property currently comprises of four heritage buildings, with 31 rooms and suites, which will be converted into “chic sanctuaries”, and a Shambhala Retreat will also be added, which the group says will be the first of its kind in France.

The first phase of Como Le Montrachet is expected to be completed in 2022, with the group collaborating with Milan-based architect-designer Paola Navone.

Como also said that its emphasis on cuisine meant that guests can expect “exceptional dining options and exquisite wine experiences in one of the most beautiful settings”.

Como Le Montrachet will join the group’s European portfolio which currently includes Como Castello Del Nero in Tuscany, as well as two London properties – Como Metropolitan London and Como The Halkin.

Como Group currently operates 14 hotels in locations including Bali, Turks and Caicos, Bangkok, the Maldives and Perth (Australia). For our review of Como The Treasury, Perth (published in 2018), see:
