Hyatt has opened its first hotel in the city of Florence, with a property under its upmarket The Unbound Collection brand.

The 62-room Il Tornabuoni Hotel, which takes its name from its location on the prestigious Via de Tornabuoni, is a former 13th century palace (the Palazzo Minerbetti), which once hosted the likes of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo de Medici III. It is a short walk from Palazzo Strozzi, the Catherdral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Uffizi Gallery.

The Renaissance-inspired rooms are designed in a colour palate of red, blue and gold and features luxurious furnishings.

There are five restaurants which include all-day dining at Il Magnifico Ristorante and neighbouring Il Magnifico Café; wines at La Cave; rooftop spot Lucie Restaurant; and cocktails at the Butterfly Terrace.

The hotel also boasts a fitness centre, yoga on the rooftop terrace and private golf courses in the surrounding countryside.

The hotel will be managed by the AG Group, an Italian-owned hospitality group. Andrea Girolami President and CEO at AG Group for IL Tornabuoni Hotel, commented:

“We are excited to welcome guests to this extraordinary palace and iconic symbol of Florence.

“IL Tornabuoni Hotel is truly a breathtaking property, and we are looking forward to providing independent-minded guests with sophisticated yet unscripted experience. Florence understands how to treasure and maintain the spirit of its artistic and cultural wealth. Travelers to this exceptional city will find an abundance of opportunities to learn, grow, and expand by experiencing the monumental historic past of Florence.”

Hyatt currently operates several Hyatt-branded hotels in Italy which include Park Hyatt Milan, Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale, Hyatt Centric Murano Venice and The Tribune Hotel.
