Hilton has opened a new property in Porto, located in Vila Nova de Gaia.
The 194-room Hilton Porto Gaia occupies a former port warehouse and has been opened following a franchise agreement with Sabersal – Promocao Turistica e Imobilaria S.A.
The eight-floor property on Rue Serpa Pinto underwent a €40 million development, which preserved its classic shape and structure while also introducing substantial refurbishments by Portuguese designer Nine de Andrade Silva.
The design is contemporary and draws inspiration from the building’s history, while many of the rooms offer views of the Douro River and historic centre of Porto-Gaia.
The hotel features two bars (a cocktail bar and a panoramic venue) and a restaurant headed by chef Hugo Portela which focuses on authentic local cuisine with a modern and contemporary twist.
Meanwhile, the 1,100 sqm wellness centre features a heated indoor pool which pays homage to the building’s port wine history with a garnet-toned design, and a fitness centre with a gym and yoga/pilates studio.
The property also has over 2,200 sqm of conference, event and meeting rooms, including a ballroom that can host up to 600 people and an auditorium which can seat 350 attendees. Additionally, it is a 15-minute drive from the Alfandega Congress Centre.

This opening solidifies our commitment to Portugal, Hilton Porto Gaia being the first in a series of new openings that will see Hilton’s portfolio more than double in the coming years.”
This is the group’s second Portuguese property under the Hilton Hotels and Resorts brand, following the Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort and Spa.
