Pendry Hotels and Resorts has opened its fifth US property and the first in New York City.
The 164-room Pendry Manhattan West is located at 438 West 33rd Street, within a six-building mixed-use complex which also includes the flagship Peloton Studios, and a 60,000 square foot Whole Foods Market.
Facilities include signature restaurant Zou Zou’s offering modern Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and featuring an open kitchen and wood-fired hearth. The venue is currently open for dinner, and will extend to lunch service later this year.
Bar Pendry is located in the lobby and features a wall installation by New York based abstract painter Nancy Lorenz, while the Garden Room offers an all-day coffee menu by Vittoria and a daily cocktail hour.
The hotel has 6,000 square feet of meeting and events space including a 1,600 square foot ballroom and an outdoor terrace, and the fitness centre features Technogym equipment and Peloton bikes.
Pendry Hotels launched in 2017 with the opening of the Pendry San Diego, and has since added properties in Baltimore, West Hollywood and most recently Chicago.
Hotels are also set to open under the brand in Park City in early 2022, followed by Washington DC and La Quinta in 2023.
Pendry is also redeveloping the Natirar Mansion (formerly owned by the King of Morocco), located around an hour from New York – which will reopen as Pendry Natirar.
Commenting on the opening Michael Fuerstman, co-founder and creative director, Pendry Hotels and Resorts, said:
“New York City is unlike anywhere else – it has its own gravitational pull, and is the nexus of design, fashion, luxury, culinary innovation, and hospitality in America.
“Opening Pendry Manhattan West is an opportunity for us to bring the things that inspire us as a brand to this iconic and electric city – we could not be more honoured than to help define a new neighbourhood and culture centre for one of the great cities in the world.”
