Accor has opened the sixth property under its Greet brand, and the first in Germany.

Greet Hotel Darmstadt is located around a 20-minute drive from Frankfurt airport, and features 194 rooms across four categories (135 of which have been “extensively renovated”), as well as a fitness centre and 1,000 sqm lobby with games lounge, bar and restaurant.

There is also nearly 10,000 sqm of indoor and outdoor meeting and events space, making the hotel one of the largest MICE venues in the Rhine-Main region.

The Greet brand was launched in 2019, and later that year opened its first property in Beaune in France’s Burgundy region.

It sits in Accor’s economy sector, alongside brands including Ibis, Ibis Styles, Adagio and Jo and Joe.

At the time the group said Greet properties would be “community-based, responsible and non-standardised,” allowing hotels that join the brand to retain an individual identity.

Common features of the brand include the Greet logo in communal areas, a large table for groups, and at least a fifth of rooms offering space for four to six people.

Hotels are also encouraged to use second-hand objects and decorations, and to source items from sustainable suppliers.

A total of eight Greet properties are currently open, the majority in French locations including Rennes, Marseille and Lyon.

Accor says that it has ambitions to grow the brand to more than 350 hotels by 2030, including flagship locations in Paris, London, Lyon and Vienna.
