Dutch hotel brand Citizen M has opened its fourth hotel in Paris, located off the world renowned Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

The 151-room Citizen M Paris Champs-Élysées is located on Rue la Boétie, between the Arc de Triomphe and Place de la Concorde and close to shopping and dining outlets on the famous avenue.

Concrete Amsterdam has redesigned and converted the existing 1970s building into a modern 151-room property. Approximately a quarter of the rooms on the front façade have a view of Rue la Boétie and a section of the famous avenue, while the rest of the rooms are arranged in a U-shape around a ground-floor courtyard with greenery and outdoor seating.

The hotel features the brand’s living room concept which features hundreds of books, interesting objects and a 24-hour kitchen known as ‘Canteen M’ which serves food, drinks and snacks along with à la carte meals, craft cocktails and coffee. The indoor dining area opens out onto the inner courtyard with Parisian style furniture.

The third outdoor space is located on the hotel’s rooftop, which is home to the Cloud M “park-style bar” with views of the Eiffel Tower. The bar, which is open to the public and available for public hire, serves a menu of finger food, snacks and bottled drinks and features furnishings by Swiss manufacturer Vitra.

Art plays an important role in the interiors of the new hotel, with works on display in the public areas including a commissioned wall mural by Lucky Left Hand (French artist Steven Burke), a Golden Age wallpaper by Ai Wei Wei, Andy Warhol’s ‘Flowers’ and hand-picked pieces from the Citizen M collection belonging to its executive chairman Rattan Chadha.

The 151 rooms feature XL king-sized beds, rain showers, super fast free wifi, full-sized AM/PM toiletries, and an HDTV – the latter has been preloaded with the brand’s ‘Brainwaves’ music-and-light compositions designed to alleviate the stresses of travel, while the lighting, blinds, temperature and TV controls can be managed via the Citizen M app or the MoodPad tablet. Art by three French female artists – Marie Guillard, Elvire Caillon and Melodie Bachet – has been hand-picked by the hotel in collaboration with creative agency Starter.

The brand already has three other hotels in the French capital – in Gare de Lyon, La Défense and Charles de Gaulle airport – which makes it the first city with a quartet of Citizen M properties.

Citizen M opened in 2008 and now counts 25 hotels in 15 cities, with plans to open its fifth hotel in London’s Olympia in 2023.

In summer 2020, the brand launched a new mobile app which enables “contactless stays” in the light of Covid-19.
