Ryanair has outlined plans for its winter 2021/22 schedules at Birmingham airport, including six new routes to destinations including the Portuguese and Romanian capitals.

The carrier will base four aircraft at the Midlands airport this winter, operating a total of 28 routes, with six new services to Bergamo, Lisbon, Bucharest, Shannon, Turin and Vilnius.

The news follows Ryanair’s announcement last week of 14 new winter routes from London airports, including Stansted to Helsinki and Zagreb, Luton to Grenoble and Shannon, and Gatwick to Malaga.

Commenting on the news Birmingham Airport’s aviation director Tom Screen, said:

“After the most challenging last 18 months, it’s fantastic to see Ryanair launching further routes from Birmingham Airport, helping to grow consumer confidence in flying overseas again and supporting the recovery of air travel.

“These six new destinations starting this winter will give more choice and flexibility for Midlanders looking for a break in Europe, all at amazingly affordable prices. We are incredibly grateful to Ryanair for continuing to grow its Birmingham base and for having confidence in our region.”
