American hotelier Jason Pomeranc will open a new hotel in New York’s Theatre District later this year.

The cofounder of the Thompson Hotel Group, and founder of Sixty Hotels, will open Civilian New York at 305 West 48th Street this November.

According to the press release the David Rockwell designed hotel “will merge accessible luxury, functionality, and high design with a focus on convenience and bespoke experiences for a modern traveller.

Features will include 203 rooms, a restaurant, a rooftop bar, a library and guest lounge, and “a secret garden accessed only from a concealed entry point”.

There will also be a curated art programme, with permanent and rotating works “by emerging and established theatre creatives and contemporary Broadway photographers”.

Guests will be given the option to tailor their stay through the hotel’s app or website, with options ranging from wifi speed to food and beverage amenities and opting out of housekeeping.

A holding website is currently live at civilianhotel.com, with bookings opening shortly.
