Oman is reopening its borders for fully vaccinated travellers, starting from September 1, 2021.
Based on the decisions issued by the Supreme Committee for dealing with Covid-19, Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority has issued a few guidelines regarding the condition of entering the Sultanate through Oman Airports.
The list of countries from which arrivals are prohibited from entering the territory of the Sultanate has been terminated states an official circular by the Civil Aviation Authority.
All Omani citizens, residents, visa holders of Oman, those who do not require a visa to travel to Oman, and those who can obtain a visa on arrival are allowed to enter Oman in accordance with the pre-Covid system.
Travellers are required to present a medical certificate with QR Code of taking two doses or the first dose of Covid-19 locally approved vaccines. The second dose is to be taken before 14 days prior to the scheduled time for arriving to the Sultanate.
Passengers on long international flights (with a period of no less than eight hours) with a pre-travel negative PCR test (within 96 hours) are exempt from quarantine as well as travellers on shorter flights with a negative Covid-19 PCR test (within 72 hours). Those arriving without a negative test report will have to undergo a Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival, following which they will have to enter a mandatory quarantine with an electronic tracking bracelet until you get a negative result. If the result is positive, a ten-day quarantine is required.
Travellers need to pre-register on Tarassud+ platform and upload the vaccine certificate as well as the Covid-19 PCR certificate containing QR codes.
However, if you have recovered from Covid-19 and happen to test positive on arrival, you will be exempt from the health isolation as long as you can submit proof that you have completed the required period of isolation in the country where you were infected before travelling to Oman.
Travelers below 18 and passengers with medically confirmed health conditions that prevents them from taking the vaccination are exempt from presenting Covid-19 vaccine certificate and PCR test certificate.
