American Airlines has outlined plans to reopen its premium Flagship Lounges this autumn.

First up will be the carrier’s Flagship facility at New York JFK’s Terminal 8, with the lounge reopening on September 14, and Flagship First Dining resuming on September 16.

This will be followed by AA’s Flagship lounge at Miami International’s Concourse D on September 28 (with First Dining resuming on September 30).

Locations at Los Angeles International’s Terminal 4, Dallas Fort Worth’s Terminal D, and Chicago O’Hare’s Terminal 3 are also set to reopen later this autumn.

The airline is also introducing new menus at the lounges in partnership with the James Beard Foundation – “an organisation with a mission to celebrate, support and elevate the people behind America’s food culture and champion a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity and sustainability”. The collaboration sees each lounge location featuring menus by “an acclaimed local chef”.

In addition AA has introduced new Flagship lounge amenities, including hand soap and lotions by DS and Durga in washrooms, and Dyson Supersonic hairdryers in shower suites.

Finally the carrier has expanded the list of destinations where eligible customers can access Flagship Lounges to include passengers flying to Hawaii.

AA’s exclusive Flagship Lounges are not be confused with the carrier’s Admirals Club facilities. The airline launched its premium Flagship offering in 2017 at JFK, with the most recent facility opening at Dallas Fort Worth in 2019. A Flagship Lounge is also under development at Philadelphia International airport.

More information on access requirements for these lounges can be found here.
