Ryanair is ceasing all flights from Belfast International airport and Belfast City airport.
The airline has blamed the UK government’s “refusal to suspend or reduce APD (Air passenger duty) and the lack of Covid recovery incentives from both Belfast airports”.
The low-cost carrier will cease seasonal services from Belfast City to destinations such as Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Ibiza, Mallorca, Malaga, Milan and Valencia on September 12.
It will also stop flying from Belfast International to Alicante, Malaga, Krakow, Gdansk, Warsaw and Milan by October 30.
The airline said that the aircraft will be “reallocated to lower cost airports elsewhere in the UK and Europe for the winter schedule” beginning in November.
A spokesperson for Belfast International airport added:
“It is disappointing that Ryanair decided to withdraw operations from the entire Northern Ireland market at the end of October, having variously had a presence in three local airports in recent years.”
