Marriott International is expanding its presence in Turkey, with plans to open 10 additional properties in the country by the end of 2022.
This will bring the group’s portfolio to 43 properties with over 7,000 rooms in Turkey by the end of 2022.
The company recently announced two signings under its Four Points by Sheraton brand: the Four Points by Sheraton Istanbul Kagithane which is expected to open this year, and the Four Points by Sheraton Elazig which is slated for a 2022 opening.
Marriott is also aiming to meet the demand for long-stay accommodations by debuting its Residence Inn by Marriott brand in Istanbul later this year. Residence Inn by Marriott Istanbul Atasehir will feature suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas.
According to the group, its premium brands are a “strong driver of growth in the Turkish market”. Two new Autograph Collection hotels will open in Istanbul – The Burdock, Autograph Collection this year and Orient Occident Hotel, Autograph Collection in 2022.
The Delta Hotels by Marriott brand will also open a new property in Istanbul Levent by the end of this year, while next year will see the arrival of a property under the Sheraton Hotels and Resorts brand, with the Sheraton Istanbul Esenyurt opening.
Additionally, the group has seen interest in its branded residences in Turkey which include The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Bodrum – the company’s first standalone branded residences in the EMEA region. The company will open The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Istanbul and The Residences at the Sheraton Istanbul Esenyurt in 2022.
Finally, the company revealed that it has seen a growth in conversion opportunities – it has signed six conversion deals across the country in the past two years, with five of these currently open – and increased interest in converting existing buildings into hotel accommodations. The company has signed four adaptive re-use conversions in Turkey which include the aforementioned The Burdock, Autograph Collection.
