Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray announced several initiatives to boost tourism in the state.

These include the launch of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation’s (MTDC) new user-friendly website, the opening of a new boat club, and tie-up with leading online travel companies to boost MTDC properties on the portals among others.

The state government inaugurated the new boat club and beach shack at Ganpatipule, a picturesque town on the Konkan coast of western India. Tourists will be able to enjoy thrilling aqua sports activities and unwind at vibrant beach shacks.

Modern amenities have been introduced at the MTDC’s Sinhagad property, a beautiful spot amidst nature often visited by trekkers and history buffs. Special provisions are made for the trekkers who frequent the fort.

To promote adventure tourism in Maharashtra, the government has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Make My Trip and Goibibo to promote MTDC properties and make them more accessible and easier to book. MoU has also been signed SkyHigh India for a skydiving experience.

The government has also tied up with the Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Pune for skill development training of the MTDC staff.

Elaborating on this, MTDC said in a tweet, “Customer is king! With this vision in mind, we have signed an MoU with the Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Pune that will cover a holistic training programme for all MTDC personnel.

“Improving experiences, one step at a time. From housekeeping, front office, food, and beverage services to skill development, we have developed a comprehensive training programme that will ensure a seamless experience for all our guests.”

Aaditya Thackeray, cabinet minister of Tourism and Environment for the Government of Maharashtra said, “These initiatives are aimed at promoting Maharashtra as a most sought-after tourist destination and promoting its unique cultural identity to the world!”
