The UAE’s position on the amber list has resulted in a significant increase in flights between Dubai and the UK.

Emirates says it will be operating 73 weekly flights into the UK by October, with a good number of these operated by the A380.

In the case of London Heathrow, Emirates is now operating three A380 flights daily. Frequency in the coming weeks will be gradually stepped up so that by mid-October there will be six flights daily to Heathrow – four of these will be operated by the A380.

The airline also says that by October it will deploy its A380 to Manchester on a double-daily basis and there will be 10 weekly flights to Birmingham and a daily service to Glasgow as already reported.

Emirates to resume flights to Glasgow

As noted many times before, Dubai is a major hub and therefore Emirates needs connecting traffic to fill its planes. Therefore the airline will also be increasing capacity to some destinations in the US and Africa in the weeks and months ahead. Others may follow later but much will depend on travel restrictions and so on.

To celebrate its new position on the amber list Emirates released a promotional video which has made media headlines around the world.
