IHG Hotels and Resorts will open a Holiday Inn and Suites hotel in Ballarat, a city in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia.

The hotel is set to open in 2024 in partnership with hotel owners Forte Group.

Holiday Inn and Suites Ballarat Goldfields will be designed by Hachem Architecture and will have a “highly visible location” from the Western Freeway which links Ballarat to Melbourne CBD.

Ballarat has a fast-growing technology industry and is the base of various major financial institutions. IHG states that the hotel will be well equipped to attract interstate corporate visitors during the week and leisure guests on the weekend. Nearby attractions include Her Majesty’s Theatre – Australia’s oldest continuously operating purpose-built theatre – and the Art Gallery of Ballarat.

The 110-room hotel will cater to the MICE industry, with 400 sqm of flexible meeting space including a large ballroom with rural views. There will also be a 90-seat restaurant and bar, a day spa, gym and outdoor pool.

The hotel will feature the brand’s next-generation design, which debuted at its property in Werribee last week. The design includes an open lobby concept combining the hotel’s reception area, business centre, restaurant, bar and lounge.

IHG debuts next-generation Holiday Inn design in Australasia

Abhijay Sandilya, IHG’s VP of Development for Japan, Australasia and Japan, said:

Holiday Inn has made its mark as one of Australasia’s fasted growing hotel brands, and we are thrilled to be adding this state-of-the-art designed property to the Holiday Inn family. What’s particularly exciting about this property is that it will truly be a destination in its own right, with a range of facilities and amenities, including a spa, pool, conference centre, restaurant, bar, that will give it a resort-like feel.”

The brand currently has 41 hotels open or in the pipeline in Australasia and the Pacific. Other forthcoming new-build Holiday Inn properties in Australasia include Holiday Inn Remarkables Park in Queenstown, which is scheduled to open in October, and Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall which is slated for 2022.
