Accor’s Jo and Joe brand has opened a new property in Paris in the city’s 20th arrondissement.

The brand launched in 2016 with an opening in Hossegor a year later and a hotel in Paris-Gentilly in 2019.  The concept is described as a type of ‘hybrid accommodation’ which blends youth hostel, hotel and living space.

The 162-bed Jo and Joe Paris Nation opened last month at 61 rue de Buzenval, located a ten-minute walk from Place de la Nation. The building has been developed by investment company Novaxia and designed by D and B Interior Design.

Rooms range from ‘Together’ dormitories which sleep four to eight and include a shared bathroom, to ‘Yours’ double rooms with private bathrooms.

Facilities include snacking and relaxation area ‘Happy House’, a restaurant, bar and 100 sqm rooftop, a Wojo coworking space, and a meeting room with capacity for up to 12 people seated (16 standing).

The hotel has partnered with Lucky Luciano restaurants to offer fresh Italian cuisine such as pizzas, salads and sharing boards, along with beer and signature cocktails.

Meanwhile, a 20 sqm store attached to the property houses the Paris Skate Culture, which offers lessons, skate camps and skateboard tours of Paris. Locals, customers and tourists can hire skateboards, longboards and surfskates or have their equipment adjusted. The hotel has also partnered with Element, a skateboard, streetwear and lifestyle brand, to create outfits for the staff, while its artist Fernando Elvira has also helped to design some of the guestrooms.

Street art shop Maquis Art has coordinated five French and European artists to incorporate street art into the hotel’s corridors, guestrooms and sixth floor rooftop.

François Leclerc, Vice President Brand and Operations at Jo and Joe commented:

“We look forward to meeting our customers and our neighbours to share the Jo & Joe spirit with them in a neighbourhood that we have a lot in common with.”

Joachim Azan, President and Founder of Novaxia, added:

“With this bold project that is focused on the city of the future, Parisians and tourists alike will be able to discover the real 20th arrondissement. The iconic rooftop open to all, as well as its wooden structure, make this a unique venue. The entire project is totally in keeping with Novaxia’s DNA”

Jo and Joe is set to further expand this year with openings in Vienna and Rio de Janeiro, followed by Rome and Medellin in Colombia in 2022.
