These new flights are seen as a major boost to the government’s UDAN scheme, which aims to enhance air connectivity across the country.

Earlier this month, the airline announced the launch of 42 new flights across its domestic and international network.

Ajay Singh, chairman and managing director, Spicejet, said:

“As air travel picks up, it’s time to rededicate and work with renewed enthusiasm towards realising our Prime Minister’s vision of connecting the smaller towns of our beautiful country by air.

“Spicejet has been the biggest and most enthusiastic supporter of UDAN and our new flights connecting Gwalior and Jabalpur to key metros is yet another testament of our commitment to connecting the unconnected and underserved parts of the country. I am sure that these new flights will provide a major boost to tourism and trade and contribute to the growth story of Madhya Pradesh, the heart of India.”
