British Airways Holidays says it is offering up to £300 off packages to selected amber list countries, following the government’s announcement regarding scrapping quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers.

The carrier said it had seen a 96 per cent increase in website views “within hours” of the announcement, with Barbados, Palma, Ibiza, New York, Antigua, Malta and Malaga among the most searched for destinations.

BA is currently flying to 43 amber and green list countries, which it says is more than any other UK airline.

To reassure customers regarding the possibility of an amber list country “turning red”, those travelling with BA until September 30, 2021 will be able to change their flight without any change to the cost of their flight (subject to availability) where a destination is added to the red list during their trip. The carrier said that the move would “support Britons when they travel to a country that might be on a Government watchlist to help them get home”.

Among the BA Holidays offers for green and amber list countries include seven nights at a three-star hotel in Cabanas (Portugal) from £419 per person, seven nights at a three-star hotel in Malaga from £339 per person, and seven nights at a four-star hotel in Crete from £419 per person.

BA is also currently running a promotion for domestic flights and holidays, offering over 35,000 seats on domestic services for less than £50 each way (based on a return fare), for travel on selected dates until September.

Commenting on the news Sean Doyle, British Airways’ chairman and CEO, said:

“This is an important step for Britain as we start to make travel possible again after 18 difficult months. There is still more to do, including opening the US, but we are enthusiastic about welcoming more of our customers back over the summer period and reassuring them that British Airways is ready.

“Our people have been working relentlessly behind the scenes to make important changes to the customer experience that will ensure our customers receive a first-class experience and complete peace of mind.”

Meanwhile for our US-based readers BA is running a sale on flights to Europe, including return flights from New York to Athens from $615 in World Traveller, for travel between September 5 and October 24, 2021.

Holiday packages are also available, including a five-night stay in London from $799 per person. More details on these offers can be seen here.
