Regular readers of this website cannot fail to have noticed the many pieces we have published regarding high-speed  (HS) rail within Spain.

The nation is unique in Europe in that it is allowing foreign operators to run domestic services over its HS network.

Yesterday independent booking website Trainline announced it was accepting bookings for both above operators, in addition to the traditional services with Renfe’s AVE (AVE is the Spanish equivalent of France’s TGV).

The advantage of using a neutral booking site is that all operators are displayed on the booking pages.

It therefore allows customers to choose the best option for their needs.

When checking Madrid-Barcelona or vice versa (the only route Ouigo and Avlo currently operate) you will find both operators displayed under the Avlo or Ouigo name.

Says Trainline CEO Jody Ford, “We’re thrilled to partner with Ouigo ES to give our customers simple, seamless access to low-cost high-speed [rail] option between Madrid and Barcelona.”

Helene Valenzuela, GM for Ouigo ES says, “We choose our partners very carefully as we are always working to offer the best quality service to our customers.”

Bookings can be made using Trainline’s app as well as via its website.
