IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced plans to open its second Intercontinental hotel in Riyadh.

The hotel group has signed an agreement with Riva Development Company to open the hotel on King Fahed Road, following its signing of the Hotel Indigo Riyadh King Abdallah Road last month.

At least five further signings are set to be announced over the coming years with the same partner, with all the openings in Saudi Arabia.

The new-build hotel is slated to open in March 2025 and will feature modern design, 250 guest rooms and 150 apartments as part of Intercontinental Residences. Facilities will include a pool, fitness centre and spa.

There will be five dining venues, a business centre, and 784 sqm of meeting and events space including a ballroom.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, India, Middle East and Africa at IHG, commented:

“As part of our continued growth strategy, and in line with the Saudi Tourism Development Strategy,  we are proud to partner with RIVA Development Company as we expand our presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. IHG has a strong and credible reputation in the luxury segment through the iconic InterContinental brand which has enjoyed great success in Saudi Arabia over the last four decades. InterContinental Riyadh King Fahed Road will be a brand defining property and will offer guests exceptional experiences immersed in local hospitality and international service excellence.”

IHG currently operates 38 hotels across five brands in Saudia Arabia, and has a further 20 set to open within the next three to five years.
