British Airways has announced plans to add a second daily frequency to its Heathrow-Cairo route from this winter.
The additional service will operate seven days a week from October 31, 2021, with the following new schedules applicable for the two frequencies:
Winter Schedule (effective October 31, 2021):
Route | Days of Week | Flight Numbers | Outbound Timings (Local Times) | Inbound Timings (Local Times) |
Cairo, Egypt (CAI) | Daily | BA406/407 | 0945 – 1645 | 1745 – 2105 |
Daily | BA400/401 | 1520 – 2220 | 0650 – 1010 |
Summer Schedule (effective March 27, 2022):
Route | Days of Week | Flight Numbers | Outbound Timings (Local Times) | Inbound Timings (Local Times) |

Daily | BA400/401 | 1410 – 2110 | 0640 – 1000 |
Both services will be operated by the carrier’s short-haul A320 aircraft – in the past BA has plied the route with the B787 Dreamliner, although it was forced to deploy its A321 aircraft back in 2019 when precautionary inspections were being carried out on the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines on some of the carrier’s B787-9s.
Return fares from London start from £315, and BA is also promoting connecting fares from New York and Los Angeles starting from $759 return.
Egyptair also flies between Cairo International airport and London Heathrow.
Commenting on the news Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ director of network and alliances, said:
“Our London to Cairo route is particularly popular with those around the world visiting friends and relatives, which we know is more important than ever for many of our customers.
“The new schedule also provides more options to connect onto British Airways’ transatlantic network, enabling us to bring even more people together.
“We look forward to welcoming customers onboard who will also experience our world class facilities at Heathrow Terminal 5.”
