Switzerland has announced ease of Covid-related restrictions for travellers from different countries.

As per the recent guidelines, people from countries with a variant of the virus of concern, who have been vaccinated or who have recovered from the disease will be permitted to enter the country. These visitors do not need to produce a negative test report or undergo quarantine.

Federal Office of Public Health said in an official release, “Persons who have been vaccinated or who have recovered do not have to produce a negative test even when travelling from countries where the Delta variant is widespread (such as India or the United Kingdom) and do not have to quarantine on entry.

“The vaccines used in Switzerland are only slightly less effective against the Delta variant and thus still offer a very high level of protection.”

However, those who have neither been fully vaccinated nor have recovered must present a negative PCR test or rapid antigen test and go into quarantine on entry.

In addition, those entering from the Schengen area will no longer be required to quarantine. The requirement to be tested will now only apply to travellers arriving by plane who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from Covid-19. Contact details will still be required when arriving by plane.

“Currently, the Embassy of Switzerland in New Delhi is accepting all visa categories for people arriving from third countries like India, who can prove, that they have been fully vaccinated,” reads the official website of the Swiss Embassy in India.

VFS Global is accepting visa applications at the centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin and Hyderabad.
